Manitoba's Jeff Stoughton takes his second Brier
Manitoba's Jeff Stoughton defeated Guy Hemmings of Quebec, 9-5 Sunday to win his second Canadian Men's Curling Championship. Saskatchewan's Representative, Gerald Shymko of Yorkton lost a heart-breaker Saturday afternoon.
L
to R: Skip- Jeff Stoughton, Third- Jonathan Mead,
Second- Garry Van Den Berghe, Lead- Doug Armstrong.
The Quebecers leaped into the air in unison as the rock ground to a halt, curling right into the button for the 6-5 victory. And the crowd of 13,272 erupted with cries of ''Guy, Guy, Guy''.
Derek's Notes- I thought this was a very successful brier, it is one to remember, too bad the semi-final game wasn't the final game. Jeff Stoughton once again showed his ability to be patient and walked through the brier untouched. Since I am from Sask. I of course cheered for Shymko, but Stoughton I thought would of been a better rep. at the worlds. (Boy was I wrong.)
Colleen Jones and her NovaScotia rink Captured the 99 Scott
Nova Scotia beat Team Canada 6-4 in the final of the Scott Tournament of Hearts in Charlottetown, P.E.I. on Sunday. Nova Scotia skip Colleen Jones becomes the first curler ever to win two National titles in one year. Complete scores and percentages for the final game are online. With the win, Nova Scotia gets to play in the final of the Ford World Curling Championships in St . John, New Brunswick, a spot in next year's Scott Tournament of Hearts as Team Canada, a spot in the JVC TSN Women's Skins game and becomes the first team int he 2001 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials.

Delahunt, Second- Mary-Anne Waye, Third- Kim Kelly, and Skip-
Colleen Jones.
Derek's Notes- Well first of all I couldn't watch much because of the CBC lockout, but I thought this Scott should of went to team Canada. Jones is actually a weak curling team and she just got extremely hot at the right time. Another reason is the amount of games she won to advance to the scott compared to the others. Her team emabarrassed Canada in the worlds and almost lost our spot to the worlds for next year. My advice to Colleen, is to keep your day job.
Ontario Wins bact 2 back Junior Mens titles

Derek's Notes- Once again I watch the final instead of playing in it, Morris rink was just the rink that noone could touch, he reminded me of Sandra Schmirlers team when they won back to back scotts. His team was always incouraging each other and they thought nothing but winning the game, while the B.C team was just amazed to be on T.V. And in the womans game, well it was played good, but the shots weren't to spectacular and it wasn't all what it could of been.
